Our story began in 1916 with Celestino Baiada – a man who valued family above everything else. He found success in poultry and property, leaving a legacy he hoped would allow for expansion of the business, which could live on through future generations.
He moved from Malta to Australia as a 14-year-old boy. Left alone to start a new life, a quiet but determined Celestino went to work, knowing there would be opportunities ahead. It could be said that his name somewhat determined his destiny; ironically enough, the Maltese occupational name ‘bajjad’ means ‘egg-seller’.We are as committed to providing quality products and excellent service today as we were over when Charlie Baiada first envisioned the business.
We are passionate about producing premium quality poultry products through our Lilydale Free Range and Steggles brands.
But today, we’re more than just poultry; we’re also building a better future for the next generation of Australians with our property development business, Celestino. Named after our founder, Celestino offers exceptional commercial, residential and industrial developments.
Your future is ours, too. That’s why, at Baiada, we are dedicated to safeguarding the environment. Continuous improvement is at the forefront of our business, so we’re always looking for new ways to ensure we’re working in an ethical and responsible manner.
For many years, our strong sense of social accountability and passion for helping people has seen us donate to a wide range of charitable organisations. As a result, we’ve created the Give Back program, which links us to our charity and regional communities across Australia.
Under the Steggles brand and through the sponsorship of the Roosters, Baiada established the Steggles Charity Nest Initiative to boost our involvement with organisations that focus on worthwhile children’s causes. Through this, we are the National Kitchen partner with Ronald McDonald House Charities, supporting 14 houses through financial support and product donations.
